Hon. Chernor Bah
Minister of Information & Civic Education, Sierra Leone
Chernor Bah is the Minister of Information and Civic Education in Sierra Leone, responsible for government communications and public engagement.
He founded the Children’s Parliament of Sierra Leone and led youth participation initiatives at the United Nations, including the Voice of Children project and the Global Education First Initiative Youth Group. As a child, he testified before Sierra Leone’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission on behalf of young people affected by the war.
Chernor has served on United Nations high-level panels on global education and youth, peace, and security. He has advised and led initiatives at organizations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, the Population Council, the Nike Foundation, and the European Union.
As co-founder and former Co-CEO of Purposeful, he helped secure funding to support feminist and girls’ rights programs in multiple countries. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Lancet, BBC, and Al Jazeera among others. He has spoken at the UN General Assembly, the White House, and various universities around the world
