Kelechi Mpamaugo

Kelechi Mpamaugo is a Nigerian-American designer and multidisciplinary creative whose work bridges fine art, advertising, and fashion. A graduate of Cornell University, where she studied Fine Arts, Kelechi began her career as an art director, creating award-winning campaigns for brands like Adidas that centered movement, identity, and cultural nuance.

She later earned her master’s in fashion from Central Saint Martins, building on the foundation she had already laid through Koat—her independent label blending elegant athleisure with diasporic storytelling. Koat draws from both Nigerian and Black American traditions, reinterpreting ceremonial silhouettes with modern materials and silhouettes designed for dynamic, layered lives.

Across all mediums, Kelechi’s practice is rooted in Blackness and culture—using design as a vehicle to reclaim space, challenge expectation, and celebrate identity in motion.
