M. Cheikh Diba is the current Minister of Finance and Budget of Senegal, appointed in April 2024. He holds a strong educational foundation from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he specialized in economic modeling and financial analysis, He has a robust background in both finance and public policy. His career has been marked by key leadership roles in Senegal’s financial sector, including serving as the Director of Budget Programming and the Director of the Budget. In these positions, he played a crucial role in managing the national budget and overseeing the efficient allocation of public resources.
Before his appointment as Minister, M. Diba was also a Technical Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Budget, where he coordinated major projects within the government’s Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE) and worked closely with international institutions like the IMF to manage Senegal’s economic and financial programs. His extensive experience in public financial management and his strategic vision for Senegal’s economic development make him a vital figure in shaping the country’s fiscal policies. M. Diba has also contributed to several public enterprises and initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and social development in Senegal.
