Dr. Odhiambo David
Pharmacist and Social Entrepreneur
Odhiambo David is a pharmacist and a social entrepreneur with a commitment to leverage his professional and business acumen to sustainably improve access to safe, effective and quality health products and technologies in Africa. He believes that the greatest equalizer and driver of social mobility is contextualized quality education that equips professionals with the tools to address pressing challenges in their communities. Guided by this he founded, African Pharmaceutical Network – a Pan-African network that convenes pharmaceutical stakeholders for knowledge sharing, policy shaping and innovation nurturing partnerships – where he leads strategic policy initiatives to support governments & stakeholders in ensuring reliable access to safe, effective and quality healthcare products in Africa.
Odhiambo is currently pursuing an MBA at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. He previously worked with Novartis as a Regulatory Affairs Manager – Policy & Strategic Operations for the East and Southern Africa Cluster where he was responsible for shaping healthcare and pharmaceutical policies for sustainable pharmaceutical practice in the region. He also served as a Board Director, Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (KAPI).
He is entrepreneurial and enterprising in nature with the conviction that ethical business is the true driver of productivity and human progress. Through his entrepreneurial ventures and mentorship engagements, he shares business insights, reflections and insights through his blog – The Spark and on YouTube.
Through his work, Odhiambo was awarded the Rising Star Award by the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Community Pharmacy Section 2021 Champion for Change and Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) Young Pharmacist of the Year 2021.
He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya and a post graduate certificate in Project Management in Global Health from University of Washington, USA.
