As the co-founder and owner of Shiloh-Beracah Ventures, a farm in Korle Bu, Accra. Naa and her team have developed, for close to a decade, a thriving agricultural enterprise with capacity for 3,500 layers, 300 broilers, 30 cockerels, ducks and goats. In 2021, she was recognised by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly as the overall best farmer in the metropolitan area. Her farm employs sustainable practices, avoiding artificial boosters and unnecessary medications to produce high-quality poultry products with extended shelf life. Beyond production, she draws on nearly a decade of poultry farming experience, providing consultancy services, training young boys, offering a space for practical attachment for agricultural students and practical education to other farmers in efficient, cost-effective farming methods.
Naa Adjeley’s academic research focuses on reproductive health, gender dynamics, and agency themes, which align with her practical work empowering individuals through agricultural entrepreneurship. She has published in respected journals, including BMC Public Health and the Ghana Medical Journal, and presented at international conferences, including the Population Association of America.
Her business aims to expand the farm and increase its impact by training young girls in the communities where it is located. Empowering these girls will help Ghana reduce dependency on imported poultry products while maintaining affordability for the average Ghanaian consumer and gaining financial independence. Naa and the team are committed to sustainable profitability, financial transparency, and strategic reinvestment to support Ghana's agricultural sector growth.

Yaw Boateng Mensah is a medical doctor, a radiologist and educator at the University of Ghana Medical School in Accra, Ghana. His research focuses on cancer imaging and management, particularly on breast and lung cancer. As a Professor of Radiology, he balances his academic responsibilities with clinical practice, contributing significantly to advancing medical imaging and interventional radiology in Ghana. He is married and the proud father of three children.
Beyond his medical career, Yaw Mensah has cultivated a passion for agriculture. He co-founded a backyard poultry operation nearly ten years ago, which has since grown into a medium-sized farm. The facility currently maintains a capacity of 3,500 layers, 300 broilers, and 30 cockerels and has recently expanded to include ducks and goats. Despite his demanding medical profession, he remains hands-on with the farm, personally supervising feeding routines and collaborating with veterinary professionals to ensure the health and well-being of the livestock.
Yaw Mensah discovered another calling through his agricultural venture, mentoring young people in entrepreneurship and financial management. This interest evolved naturally from his interactions with farm employees, allowing him to combine his expertise in medicine with practical business knowledge to guide the next generation.
Looking toward the future, Yaw Mensah aligns his goal with that of the farms to expand the agricultural operations. This expansion would create employment opportunities for local youth and establish a dedicated training centre for young girls, aspiring poultry farmers, further extending his educational impact beyond medicine into sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.
