The Future of African Storytelling: The Role of Literature, Film, and Digital Media
This workshop will explore the dynamic evolution of African storytelling through the integration of innovative technologies across literature, film, and digital media. It will focus on how new mediums, such as e-books, podcasts, virtual reality, and interactive films, are transforming the way African stories are told, consumed, and shared with global audiences. The session will highlight how African writers, filmmakers, and digital creators are using technology to enhance narrative forms, reach wider audiences, and preserve cultural heritage in a rapidly changing digital landscape. Despite one’s industry of focus, everyone in their right is a storyteller at their core and we hope to empower all Africans to discover the beauty in owning and reclaiming their own narratives. Discussions will also focus on the potential of these innovations to address pressing social issues, challenge stereotypes, and create more inclusive, diverse representations of Africa. This workshop will empower African storytellers to embrace digital platforms, ensuring that their voices continue to resonate globally.
