Workshops
Health and Wellbeing
Explores how strong, community-led health interventions, combined with resilient infrastructure, are key to preparing for and responding to public health crises in Africa. Drawing lessons from outbreaks like Ebola, Mpox, and COVID-19, it highlights the importance of building trust, leadership, and local capacity before emergencies occur, showing that investing in both people and systems is the most sustainable path to long-term health security.
Media, Culture and Arts
Emphasizes the power of African voices in shaping global perceptions by reclaiming and owning their narratives through media, arts, and culture, exploring how these mediums serve as vital forms of expression and communication.
Climate, Environment and Sustainability
This workshop focuses on climate justice and just transitions within Africa’s development and climate finance agenda. It highlights Africa’s minimal emissions yet disproportionate climate impacts, driven by historical and structural inequalities. The session critiques current finance mechanisms for excluding vulnerable communities and explores justice-centered alternatives like community-led action, gender-responsive funding, and indigenous knowledge. Through dialogue and case studies, participants will co-create strategies for equitable, locally rooted climate finance aligned with AU Agenda 2063 and decolonial climate goals.
