Kevin Simmons

BIOGRAPHY

Kevin Simmons is a business coach and strategic advisor to CEOs of high-growth early-stage technology ventures. One of Africa’s foremost technology investors, he was a founding angel investor of the highly successful Afropreneur Angel Group, and he is currently the Head of Investments and General Partner of the $50m Alpha Fund with pan-African VC leader LoftyInc Capital. Kevin has invested in over 100+ African technology companies including 3 of Africa’s 8 unicorns.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and service time at the United States Military Academy at West Point, he champions purpose-driven leadership in business and innovation. He holds multiple engineering and advanced business degrees from Stanford University, Rice University,and the University of Oxford, and was formerly an engineer and capital projects manager for global oil giant Chevron, where he successfully managed complex engineering, construction, and risk projects around the globe, and has been featured in leading industry publications.

Kevin serves as Africa resource for Invest Barbados, the investment promotion agency of Barbados within the global African diaspora. Since leading the US-based National Society of Black Engineers expansion into Africa in 1999, Kevin has continued to live and work across much of Africa and her global diaspora for 25 years and learnings and insights from his global network, as well as his own lived experiences across the Caribbean, the United States, the United Kingdom, and 20 African

countries now fuel his mission to teach, inspire, and advance the innovation, business, and technology paradigm that is Global Africa.
