I am Olivia Vashti Ayim, a first-year DPhil Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Planetary Physics student. I hold an MSc. from a joint degree program run by the Sapienza University of Rome and the University of L’Aquila, both in Italy, where I was certified as a Meteorologist by the World Meteorological Organization(WMO). Also, I had my Postgraduate Diploma in Earth System Physics (Climate Section) at the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste-Italy.
My research has been chiefly based on climate variability and its effects, especially in the tropics. Most countries in the tropics are the most vulnerable to impending climate change, hence the need for more research to quickly ascertain the changes to provide adaptation /mitigation measures.
Currently, I am working on Attribution Studies of Extreme Weather Events, which asks the question; to what extent is climate change inducing adverse weather, and to what extent are they catalyzed by anthropogenic activities?
