Matjie Lillian Maboya

Lillian is a South African who is passionate about environmental conservation and the involvement of young people in combating climate change. She was previously employed at General Electric South Africa, in the renewable energy business, and also served as an inaugural board of trustee member to the African Leadership Academy. Her outstanding environmental work was recognized through the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans. Her current DPhil research investigates sediments from dryland environments to understand the long-term palaeoclimatic change in southern Africa. In her role as social secretary, she aims to create inclusive avenues for all Afri-Soc members while celebrating the continent’s diversity.
