Tin Hinane El Kadi

Post-doctoral researcher in Political Economy at Oxford TIDE Center

Tin Hinane El Kadi is a political economy researcher whose research focuses on digital technologies, innovation policies, and the rise of China.

Her PhD at the London School of Economics examines the developmental implications of China’s Digital Silk Road in North Africa, focusing on how Chinese digital capital influences technological upgrading. It also explores the role of Chinese digital firms in shaping ICT ecosystems and technological standard diffusion in host countries.

Before her PhD, Tin Hinane worked on North-South knowledge production and data-driven innovations at the LSE and consulted for organisations like the World Bank, Chatham House, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and Carnegie Endowment. A Chevening Scholar, she holds an MSc in Development Studies from the LSE and a BA in Politics and Chinese from SOAS.  She has authored several book chapters, journal articles, and opinion pieces
