Wantoe T Wantoe

Executive Director, Centre for African Policy

Wantoe T. Wantoe is the President for Postgraduates at the University of Oxford, where he also earned two master’s degrees: an MSc in Comparative and International Education and a Master of Public Policy from the Blavatnik School of Government. He also served as a Co-Convener for the 2025 Oxford Africa Conference 2025.

He is the Executive Director of the Center for African Policy and serves on the Board of Trustees of AFS Intercultural Programs. With more than a decade of leadership in policy advocacy, governance, and youth empowerment, he is widely recognised as an influential young changemaker.

Wantoe’s career bridges grassroots mobilisation and global policymaking. In 2013, he was appointed youth representative to Liberia’s Independent National Human Rights Commission, where he worked to strengthen protections for vulnerable communities. During the 2014 Ebola crisis, he documented violations affecting orphaned children, work that led to his selection as one of the youngest speakers at the World Humanitarian Summit. He also gained legislative and policy experience as a Congressional intern in the United States.

He has served on Youth Advisory Councils for both the Misk Global Forum and the AFS Youth Assembly. In 2023, he was honoured as Liberia’s National Flag Day Orator.

Wantoe has spoken at the United Nations General Assembly, the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the University of Oxford, and other global platforms, advancing discussions on youth leadership, education, governance, and sustainable development.

His international recognitions include the Diana Award, the African Renaissance Network’s Pacesetter Honour, the Vincent De Paul Award, and the Frédéric Ozanam Award. He was also featured in Pembroke 400 Characters, a historic digital gallery celebrating individuals who have shaped the 400-year history of Pembroke College, Oxford.
