Hennie Heymans is the Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express Sub-Saharan Africa, where he oversees a team of more than 4,000 professionals operating across 51 countries.

He joined DHL Express more than twenty years ago as Direct Business Unit Manager for South Africa. Since then, he has held several senior leadership roles within the organization, including Managing Director for Central Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands (CENIO). He later became Managing Director for DHL Express South Africa, where he played a key role in driving organizational change and implementing innovative processes and strategies for the South African business division.

Heymans is deeply passionate about Africa’s economic potential and believes the continent will emerge as one of the world’s most significant growth frontiers. He has actively contributed to global conversations on Africa’s development, including participation in the World Economic Forum Africa meeting in 2019. He was also recognized with the Accenture Rising Star Award in 2020 and served as an international panelist at the Africa Go Trade Summit 2022.

He is an invited member of the DHL Express Global Management Board and is a strong advocate for people-focused leadership, viewing employee satisfaction and engagement as critical drivers of long-term commercial success.

Outside of work, Heymans is a devoted family man who enjoys cycling and running.
