Simone Osei-Owusu is a DPhil student at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, where she researches stranded-asset risk exposures in Africa’s power markets. Previously, she was a Research Energy System Modelling Fellow at UCL’s Energy Institute, supporting the Green Grids Initiative to scale climate finance in the power sector by modelling cross-border interconnection and assessing associated carbon benefits. She holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, where her thesis explored stranded assets and resource adequacy in a fully renewable power system in Kenya. She also worked as a Research Consultant and Model Curator for the Fossil Fuel Retirement Model within the Climate Compatible Growth Programme, a UK aid-funded initiative supporting investment in sustainable energy and transport systems aligned with development priorities in the Global South.
