The 2024 ISF, an integral part of the Oxford Africa Conference, invites submissions from current students at the University of Oxford and students across the African continent. This year, we are piloting a new collaborative approach by partnering with leading universities in each of the four key African regions—the West, East, North, and South—to promote the open call in their universities through ambassadors. This pilot program aims to gauge the effectiveness of regional collaboration and sets the stage for potentially broader participation in future conferences. Participants can submit their work in three main categories: research, entrepreneurship, and development, all of which align with the focus areas of the Oxford Africa Conference.
Innovation Seed Fund
Conference Gala Dinner (Africa Day Celebration)
This year's conference Gala Dinner is scheduled for the 25th of May, from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm, at the Kassam Stadium Events Center. Coinciding with Africa Day, the event is themed "Africa is not a country." It aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse regarding the significance of narrative shaping in combating homogenised perceptions of the continent. The Gala will delve into the complexities inherent in the diverse narratives within and about Africa. It seeks to offer nuanced insights into the role of creatives in challenging stereotypes, expanding narratives, and countering the tendency to reduce Africa to a singular story. This will be achieved through a cultural and fashion showcase, highlighting the richness and diversity of African cultures and identities.
